At the IndiePix's sponsored gathering hosted at The Wall Street Journal Cafe, I bump into a crew of familiar others--David Lowery, Michael Tully, Tom Hall and Matt Dentler among others. We're here to celebrate the announcement of the film nominees for the Cinema Eye Honors for Nonfiction Filmmaking, which are, as introduced by IndiePix's Danielle DiGiacomo, filmmaker AJ Schnack (Gigantic (Tale of Two Johns), Kurt Cobain: About a Son), Thom Powers, chair of the nominating committee and documentary programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival and filmmaker Margaret Brown (Be Here to Love Me: A Film About Townes Van Zandt, The Order of Myths), as follows:

The woman stands in profile, her shoulder length blond hair falling softly down. Her hands are tiny, and she moves them gracefully. "They were riffing out characters the whole time," she says.

SM Editor Noralil Ryan Fores arrives in Park City: "It's a dry climate. In the first 24 hours, you have to drink lots of water. And, after a few days, your skin, on your hands and feet, will start to crack, so you'll need a lotion. Go to the Albertson's, look for the kind with the bear on it," he says. "And, don't blow your nose too hard. The first year I came I got a nose bleed. I didn't even notice, just started bleeding."
"This sounds like a perilous adventure in film viewing," I mumble. |
