![]() To celebrate SM’s distinctly awesome redesign, we humbly offer up this brief knowledge quiz. (Fifteen questions total. Piece of cake, benevolent & generous readers.) All answers can be found with some creative use of the search function. And, the benefit, you ask, of doing this? The reader with the most correct answers chooses a feature story for SM to cover in the coming month. In SM’s premiere feature story, which four upcoming filmmakers weighed in on “mumblecore”? In the special issue on the intersection of music and film, this composer scored Jacob Gentry’s The Last Goodbye as well as the upcoming release The Signal. Helmed by independent filmmaker Joe Pacheco, this screening series showcases a selection of the best upcoming short and feature works and runs for free biweekly. Which lead actor is a longtime friend and frequent collaborator of independent filmmaker Frank V. Ross? SM headquarters are based out of which major city: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Portland or Austin? Music video director Gina Niespodziani used which widely loved children’s toy to animate Y-O-U’s “Moviekiss"? Which SM contributing writer starred in the lead role of Alex Orr’s Blood Car? This animator currently works on the Cartoon Network's upcoming The Marvellous Misadventures of Flapjack. This Hannah Takes the Stairs star works on the show as well. Who said this: “Don’t recommend art to people if they don’t want to be anxious, if they don’t want to be a little insane. There’s something insane about this, don’t you think?” (Hint: Think Coney Island, Robert Johnson, & Chekov) The title for this festival-acclaimed film was pulled from a chapter in Abbie Hoffman’s Steal This Book. To date, this is the only film for which an initial review was retracted. This experimental filmmaker and this music video director for The Spinto Band studied together at Syracuse University. The documentary Alice Neel captures the life of the famed portrait painter and was directed by a filmmaker who holds what relationship with the artist? What is your favorite story thus far, and briefly why is it? Please send all answers to the editor via the Contact Page, and head the Message Subject "Quiz Answers." All entries must be in by 5PM PDT on Saturday, August 25. The winner will be announced in the next issue. Comments (0)
