No Country For Old Men

Poster Art Courtesy Miramax

Status: Terrific.

Singh writes:

"The film is a deconstruction of the Western in some regards, as is the book, but it's also this philosophical treatise on chance and the power of implacable malevolent forces... I'm being intentionally vague here so as to avoid inadvertent spoilers.

Also, from a purely filmmaking standpoint, the Coen brothers re-energized me with their technical virtuosity. And how about Roger Deakins' cinematography? First he gives us the lush Jesse James... movie, and now No Country.... Compared to the last few years, 2007 is a pretty good year for American films."
